Mary's Story
(Mary's Before & After photos will be posted soon)

Just like so many others, Mary always set her New Year's resolution to lose weight. At the beginning of 2005, she was thinking here she was AGAIN at the beginning of the year and she hadn't met her previous New Year's resolution. She knew she needed a fun fitness goal to keep her focused - like a tennis tournament or a marathon. She couldn't find a tennis league near where she lives, and she didn't like the idea of having to run every day (at least not long distance, although she likes what it does for her!), so she decided why not entering a body transformation contest and a fitness contest?!?

She had thought about bodybuilding when she was in high school, but only as a fleeting thought. She went on-line and did some research and found there were other types of bodybuilding for women that focussed on much more feminine physiques like Figure and Fitness. She found a local show to go to, and after attending thought to her self. "I so could do that!" She again turned to the Internet, and while browsing found "Shape up Denver" at the BODYStatment.com website!

Mary called the BODY Statement Gym and told Tiffany she wanted a "before" and "after" picture, and that she wanted to try and win the Body Transformation Challenge at the Colorado State event and maybe even compete. Tiffany told her to come for a free consultation. They came up with a competition date, and Tiffany set her up on a custom designed nutrition and exercise program.

The program was working - Mary kept losing body fat and weight almost every week. Just having Tiffany to motivate her and measure her progress on a regular basis was enough to keep Mary focused. The Body Statement team of professionals also helped Mary with personal training. They work your butt off, literally!!

After losing 25 pounds and almost 15% body-fat, Mary not only accomplished her dream of competing in her first Physique competition on August 20 th of 2005, but, but won the Colorado State Body Transformation challenge. Although she realized she wouldn't be as fit as the other women competing, she set a goal and worked very hard to achieve it. She ended up placing 4 th in her age group. She continues to strive to accomplish more goals, like competing again, but this time in Fitness (dance routine with strength and flexibility moves).

For all of this, she thanks Tiffany and her team for showing her how to eat nutritiously and exercise effectively, and for giving her the chance to accomplish her dream of competing in a Fitness competition.

Mary is 37 years old and is 5’6”. She has been married for 13 years to Chad, who she thanks for his undying love and support! She is from Texas, but has lived in Colorado for the past 9 years.

She loves motorcycling, hiking, biking, and living a healthy lifestyle, which she’ll continue as she becomes older. She still loves chicken fried steak, Tex-Mex, and rich desserts but now eats them in moderation.

Mary’s tips for anyone trying to get into shape: first, think positively about your body – visualize how you want to be, and then act as if you’re already there. Second, one of the best tips she received from Tiffany is to wear a heart rate monitor while doing cardio – it keeps you focused and you won’t waste time in the gym thinking you’re burning fat, when in reality you may not be. Third, hire a personal trainer, at least in the beginning. You’ll be accountable, not only to yourself, but to someone else, and they can show you how to train more effectively. Lastly, set a lofty goal for yourself, and really work hard to meet it!

BECKY BREWSTER

Last year's Body Transformation winner, Kari Abt, awards Becky with over $800 worth of gifts and prizes for her amazing body transformation! (More AFTER pictures from the show coming soon!)

Becky's Success Story
author: Annette Brook - Becky's best friend

Becky Brewster is a model of perseverance, tenacity and determination. After having stomach surgery, Becky had gained some unwanted weight and was prescribed medication for her constant upset stomach by her doctor. She wanted to feel healthier and happier and sought out nutrition specialist, Tiffany Yee and BODY Statement trainers to put her on a regime of healthy food and exercise. She also decided to strive for her life-long goal of competing in a fitness/physique competition.

In only one month of being on her new nutrition and fitness program, her doctor was able to take her off her prescribed stomach medication and Becky noticed a significant change in her body. This happiness was short-lived, as she was about to be faced with the greatest challenge of her lifetime. At a young age of thirty-five, Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 2004.When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, her new cancer doctor informed her she would be unable to continue with her training and definitely would not be able to compete in the March 26 th competition.

After the devastating news, Becky decided to take control of the only aspect of her life she seemed to have control over - her workouts and nutrition, and keeping focused on her goal of transforming her body and competing in this show. During this time, Becky and her best friend Annette trained together with a BODY Statement trainer four times a week and continued to meet for nutrition counseling once a week. Becky stuck to her meal plans and never skipped a workout - not even during her chemotherapy treatments.

Her doctor attributes her steadfast determination and positive attitude to her success at beating the cancer and her maintaining her health through the chemotherapy treatments. Becky is proof if you want something bad enough you can accomplish anything.

To recap Becky's accomplishments: she has lost over 40 lbs. of excess cellulite to date and dropped from 37% body fat to 21%. She became the 2005 Mile High Fitness Extravaganza's Body Transformation Challenge Champion, winning over $800 worth of gifts and prizes. Becky also accomplished her dream of competing in a physique contest and placed 2 nd Runner-Up in the Masters Over 35 Physique competition on March 26 th .

Becky's greatest achievement to date is surviving breast cancer and hopes to be an inspiration to others. She currently is going through daily radiation therapy and is continuing with her training. Her next goal is to build the strength and stamina to perform a fitness routine and compete in the Ms. Fitness Colorado on July 30 th , 2005 in Denver, Colorado!

About Kari

Like so many Americans, Kari was experiencing the effects of poor nutrition and lack of exercise! While she'd make the time to have well balanced meals for her two young children, she would cram "convenient" and "on-the-go" pre-packaged junk food into her own mouth. She conveniently convinced herself she didn't have time to spend hours at the gym to attempt to get her pre-pregnancy body back besides she was a mother now and she felt she should be more concerned with taking care of her children than watching her dress size.

Then there was the diagnosis of Hashimoto's disease. Her doctor, Paula Castro, M.D., advised her to start with the basics- proper nutrition and exercise to get those good endorphins going, which in turn encourages the body to function better. Kari didn't have any idea where to start this new journey and sought out a nutritionist and trainer.

It was a few weeks later that Kari met Tiffany Yee who immediately started her on a clean food nutrition plan and a Let's Get Busy exercise program. Just eight weeks later Kari was feeling and looking better than ever! Her doctor was reporting that Kari's health was significantly improving and Kari was wearing a much smaller dress size with a brand new attitude. Her husband was so impressed with his wife's energy and appearance that he adopted a healthy lifestyle as well, and now their children have a great time with their new desire to have lots of physical activity in their free time.

Another five weeks passed, and Kari's trainer, Tiffany, entered her in the Colorado Festival Body Transformation Challenge and Kari decided to challenge herself to compete in the Ms. Physique Colorado competition. Twelve weeks prior she had beg her quest for a healthier lifestyle and on August 14 th Kari Abt became the 2004 Ms. Physique Colorado title holder! Her doctor has even taken her off medication.

Kari realized that there is more to proper nutrition and exercise than just the obvious. Her experience not only changed her health and appearance for the better, but it set her on a mission to change the way other people feel and look. Her future goals includes continuing to motivate others in the gym with proper technique and training and becoming a Certified Nutrition Specialist. She also plans to continue to improve her physique and compete in future figure and fitness competitions.

Kari believes that we live in a society that craves instant gratification. American's have been torturing themselves with endless fad diets and marketing of foods that convince people that a "bad for you" food item is now miraculously a "good for you" food because it is new, improved and now low fat or low carb. This for many Americans is a "get out of jail free card" and we eat excess amounts of junk food. All we are losing is our health!

There is a misconception among Americans that proper nutrition is too time consuming and exercise means spending endless hours in the gym. In reality, Kari enjoys foods that take no more time to prepare than they do to eat. She plans to educate and enlighten as many people as she can. Her goal is to encourage Americans to take better care of themselves by taking care of the basics- nutrition and exercise which are proven to reduce the risks of just about every type of illness that you can imagine.

About Melissa
Melissa Nutt is a 25-year-old Denver native and graduated from Colorado State University in May 1999. Shortly after college, she began her career as a technical writer in the visual communications industry, where she found herself unhappy with her 5"5 frame continuing to increase in weight to over 160 lbs. She knew she had to do something about her physique before it was too late.
She researched her options and picked an exercise and nutrition plan that was practical for her lifestyle. She slowly began to change her eating habits and lifestyle and in twelve weeks, lost ten pounds and went from 30% to 21% body fat. The difference in her energy level, confidence, and overall wellness led her to push further with her fitness goals. She continued with this new healthy and active lifestyle to maintain and enhance her physique.

In 2003, Melissa began taking adult gymnastics classes at Denver University. Melissa showed up early to class one day and saw Tiffany Yee working with the DU gymnastics coach, Carl Leland. She became curious about Tiffany and wanted to know more.

After just one meeting with Tiffany, Melissa decided that her competitive spirit, dedication to the gym, and her background in gymnastics and dance made her well suited for competition. She began training in May 2003. An unexpected accident that snapped her collarbone in half caused Melissa to postpone her dream of competing in a fitness competition that year. The devastation of not being able to move her arm for an entire month fueled her fire to rehabilitate and get back onto the training regimen as soon as possible.

In December 2003, she had rehabilitated her collarbone and hired Tiffany again to help with nutrition and training to compete at the 2004 Northern Colorado Fitness and Figure Championships and the 2004 Ms. Fitness Mile High Competition.

She conjured the support from her family and friends to push her towards her training- even when her body was tired and didn’t want to go any further. She was able to drop an additional 7% in body fat while increasing lean muscle mass during her leaning out phase for competition, which is a task only a very committed individual can accomplish. Her dedication and competitive spirit earned her the following trophies and titles in her first two fitness competitions:
2004 Ms. Fitness Mile High Champion
2004 Northern Colorado 1st Place in Fitness Tall Class
2004 Northern Colorado Fitness Overall Champion
2004 Northern Colorado 1st Place Figure Medium B Class
2004 Northern Colorado Figure Overall Champion

Her original goal was just to compete and place in a fitness competition. Now, with these championships under her belt, she feels confident if she dedicates herself to accomplish anything, it can be done!
Melissa has accepted an amazing new career opportunity in Los Angeles, California. She plans to compete nationally as soon as she is settled in her new career and lifestyle. She would like to thank everyone who picked her up when she was down and contributed to the loudest cheering section of any competitor!

She would also like to make a special thank you to Tiffany Yee for being her inspiration to be the best she can be!

About Bonnie
Bonnie Scofield is not only a wife and mother of a 3 year old son, but also works full time in the Oil & Gas Industry. She has always been interested in fitness, but never imagined that in her forties she’d be standing on stage competing in fitness.

After having a child she was determined to fit into her pre-pregnancy clothes and wanted to feel healthier and more energetic. She met Tiffany Yee through her web site and that's where it all began. She met with Tiffany three times a week for weight training, once a week for nutrition and choreography, and also participated in all the team workouts and classes. (There are even rumors of Bonnie running her office building stairs during her lunch break). Bonnie is definitely one of the most committed and dedicated women you will ever meet! The results of her hard work and dedication allowed her to reshape her body and go from 23.7% body fat to under 11% in four short months.

Bonnie's original goal was to enter her first Figure competition on August 31st in the Over 40 Division! She was ahead of schedule with her body shaping goals and decided to enter the Novice Figure Division at the 2003 CO State Championships (an entire month earlier) to experience the intensity of competing in her first competition. Bonnie took 1st Place in the Women's Figure Short Class Novice Division and then stole the show by winning the OVERALL Women’s Figure Novice Championship Title! She also took 1st Runner Up in the Open Figure Short Class Division. She had so much fun at her first show, she went on to compete in two more local competitions for Fitness and Figure and then headed to Nationals in Miami!

Here is the rest of Bonnie's competition accomplishments:
2003 NPC Natural Colorado Open - Overall Fitness Winner, 1st in Figure Short Class
2003 NPC Carol Semple Fitness Classic- 1st in Fitness Short Class, Overall Fitness Winner, 1st in Figure Short Class
2003 NPC Fitness Nationals- 8th Place in Fitness Short Class

Bonnie is already in training to improve her physique and reach her next goal which is to either compete in Fitness this upcoming year at NPC USA's in Las Vegas or in the National Master's Figure Championships!

"I have Tiffany Yee to thank for what I have accomplished in the past year. She has given me the confidence to believe in myself and my goals, not only as a trainer but as a friend. Tiffany, I appreciate all you have done for me. Thanks!"
